Fully Skype-certified, the SO-10 takes the convenient features of the Skype VOIP computer application - history, contact list, status, Skype user search - and condenses them into an easy-to-use interface. This interface comes courtesy of a bright, sharp, full color 2.4 inch LCD screen, which is adjustable depending on desired viewing angle. Intuitive navigation and large menu icons emulate the familiar Skype application, which provides free Skype-to-Skype calls and low-cost domestic and international calling over the Internet.
With complete Skype functionality already installed on the SO-10's computer-grade CPU, there's never the hassle of software installation or cumbersome configurations. Simply plug the SO-10 into your DSL or Cable Modem connection (with included CAT5 Ethernet cable); optionally, you can also plug your computer into the SO-10 in case you need or would like to share the Internet connection with a computer. From there, sign directly into your existing Skype account, or create a new free Skype account right there on the phone. The SO-10 will connect to your account and import your contact list, along with such things as Skype Credit. Non-Skype mobile phone or landline users can call you directly if you opt into the SkypeIn program, while you can call non-Skype phones via the optional SkypeOut program. Your Skype voicemail (another optional service) is also easily accessible.
While the SO-10 is fully integrated with Skype, it handles like a traditional desktop phone, and it has all the features and functionality you've grown accustomed to. Adjust volume, access speed dial numbers, mute, redial, or enjoy handsfree speakerphone mode, all at the touch of a button. | | | Features: | |

Good desktop Skype phoneFeb 02, 2010 I was chosing between SO-10 and SO-20. At the end I went for the SO-10 and I like it a lot. I keep it on the desk next to my other land line phone. It is very easy to use and sound quality is great. I use it with Skype-In and Skype-Out. Both works great! Im from Sweden but live abroad. Now it is very easy for family and friends back home in Sweden to call me on a local Swedish number (Skype-In).
Only had some small issues with software. It has hanged once since I got it a couple of months ago. Also sometimes it seems like status is changed automatically from "invisible" to "online". I think this happens when there is network problem and connection is lost for a short while. Then it seems like on login it will go to "online" status instead of "invisible" as it was before.
In all Im very happy with this phone!! It is very convenient to be able to receive and make phone calls without messing around witha computer.
Overall, pretty goodJan 02, 2010 I'm sure most people are primarily concerned with call quality. The best way to describe it is to think of a cell phone with 1 bar...95% of the time it's great, but you will get the occasional delay or jumbled word, and the person on the other end may hear a faint hiss. You will also have to wait until the other person is finished speaking before you start as it doesn't seem to handle 2 way communication at the same time all that well. The volume is much better than other VOIP phones I have tried. Obviously, the faster your internet speed, the better the call. Simply put, if you are using the cheapest DSL available, you should expect less than perfect results. The phone is good looking, and the setup is a no brainer. Overall I would say it is the best of 4 different units I've tried and I am pleased with the purchase.

AwesomeDec 05, 2009 I have tried Philips VOIP phone, So many headsets, polycom etc but this is by far the best product I have used to Skype.
Feels very solid, easy of use and good quality of performance
Great phone.Nov 24, 2009 I was worried when I ordered this product. I was worried that it would be difficult to set up, that it would not feel like a "real" phone and that the sound quality would be crap.
I was wrong on all counts. Setup was quite simple. The interface is straightforward and easy to figure out. Even though the receiver doesn't have the heft of regular phone, it still feels ok and substantial enough to not be distracting. The sound quality is actually better than I expected and better than my laptop-headset combo.
All in all, I'd say it's a great Skype phone.

Excellent Internet PhoneNov 17, 2009 I purchased this phone specifically for SkypeIn and SkypeOut calls (calls to and from regular numbers), not Skype calls. For anyone considering it for the same purposes, I hope this review helps.
I am very happy with this phone so far. I have used it now for 1 month and it has worked terrifically. The phone is very easy to setup. You can plug your ethernet cable to the WAN port, and then you can run a cable from the LAN port to your computer. The result is that the phone is on all the time, independent of your computer.
My initial and main concern was voice quality. I am happy to report that the quality is very good. I have asked several people to rate the quality during conversations. With cell phone conversations, people have given 7.5 to 8 / 10. With landline conversations, people have said that it is just like talking to someone on another landline. The negative feedback I have received is that sometimes there is a static popcorn noise in the background (cellphone), sometimes there is an echo (person can here his own voice), and sometimes my voice sounds low. For the echo, I turned down the phone volume and that seemed to solve the issue. For my voice sounding low, I started talking a little bit louder. For the static, only one person has reported that issue to me.
On my end, the conversations are usually quite good, too. I do hear static in the background, but not so much that I cannot hear the other person speak. The volume is fine. I have had no dropped calls and I usually do not experience any lag in the conversation. Skype to Skype works great, while landline conversations are usually clearer than cellphone conversations. I have a high-speed cable internet connection. If you have a good connection, I think you will be able to converse with others without any problems.
The biggest advantage comes in using this phone with the Skype package. The phone might feel expensive but I believe it is worth the cost for the quality of the product. It is well built and the firmware is being updated continuously; your investment should last for a long time. Once you are past the initial cost, your monthly Skype fee will be less than $6 each month for unlimited in and out calling anywhere in the US. Combine this with a $.10/min Pay As You Go cellphone plan and you have the best of the worlds: unlimited calling and flexibility when you are on the go.
I was with a major cellphone carrier with a basic plan. My bill was $50/month.
My total phone expenses are now about $10/month. It's nice.
